(EthiopiaOnline)―Athletes Eliud Kipchoge and Gladys Cherono of Kenya win the 2017 BMW Berlin Marathon, respectively men’s and women’s titles, on Sunday, September 24, 2017. Eliud Kipchoge, the 2016 Olympic champion and the 2016 winner of the London Marathon, clocked 2:03:32 on men’s race whereas Gladys Cherono clocked 2:20:23 on women’s race.
Ethiopian athletes Guye Adola (who ran his first marathon, 26-year-old) and Mosinet Geremew finished second and third, respectively, on men’s race on the race on which more than 43,000 runners took part. Guye Adola’s time, which is 2:03:46, is recorded to be the fastest marathon debut ever. Ruti Aga of Ethiopia, who finished third on last year’s Berlin Marathon, completed second this year on women’s race. Kenyan Valary Jemeli Aiyabei came on the third spot.
