Russian, Ethiopian Foreign Ministers to Discuss Energy Projects And Settlement of Conflicts Sergey Lavrov and Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus

Moscow (TASS) ―The foreign ministers of Russia and Ethiopia – Sergey Lavrov and Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus – will on Monday discuss problems of prevention of conflicts in Africa and the fight against terrorism, as well as the key spheres of the two countries’ interaction in the political and trade-economic field.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said Ethiopia is “our country’s longtime friend and partner on the African continent,” while the dynamics of Russia-Ethiopia contacts “is at a high level.”

The ministers are expected to discuss “the key problems of the international and regional agenda presenting mutual interest with the focus on the problems of prevention and unblocking of conflicts in Africa, in particular on the Horn of Africa and in South Sudan.”

Besides, “problems of the fight against international terrorism will be discussed in detail.”

“Special attention will be paid to prospects of Russian-Ethiopian trade and economic cooperation, including implementation in Ethiopia of large-scale joint projects in the spheres of power industry, hydrocarbon production, infrastructure facilities construction,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The two ministers will also touch upon “priority measures to improve the bilateral contractual and legal base.”

The visit by the Ethiopian top diplomat is expected to give an additional impetus to joint work to promote the entire range of mutually beneficial and versatile bilateral ties, the ministry said.
