A California man has been arrested and charged with murder after police say he stabbed his girlfriend to death in front of the woman’s two young children, then tossed her body in the trash.
Officers with the Stockton Police Department responded to the 9000 block of Don Borgia Way shortly before 10am on Sunday after getting a report of a possible dead body inside a garbage can.
Police located the trash receptacle in question and found inside the lifeless body of a woman, later identified by family members on social media as 37-year-old Angenai Terlouw.
In the course of the investigation, detectives identified a person of interest, Terlouw’s 36-year-old boyfriend, Daniel Winkler, and took him into custody Sunday evening.
Police said Terlouw had been stabbed to death in front of the couple's two children, ages three and five, at a home on Erma Avenue, about a half-mile away from where he body was dumped.
The case has been described by the authorities as ‘domestic violence related.
The San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office has uncovered evidence of previous instances of domestic violence between Winkler and Terlouw, and more charges could be pending against the suspect, reported the station KTLA.
