The Addis Ababa Bole Airport Yellow Taxi Services Association said that a tax privilege they were given previously is now transferred to a single person. The more than 400 cab drivers stated that the tax holiday is now transferred to a single investor.
"We started an effort to modernize our taxi fleets with new ones to improve the country's image and to provide a seamless service to our customers," the Association said. "Hence, we were provided a tax free privilege to import new cars through our Association. But this privilege is now passed to a single person."
Members of the Association said they have submitted their plea to the Prime Minister Office and to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. They stressed that they will take those who stripped them of the tax privileges to courts and will fight for their rights till the end.
