Gedion Zelalem, Arsenal’s Midfielder In Talks To Join Rangers On Loan
Arsenal’s Gedion Zelalem is in talks to join Glasgow Rangers on loan, according to reports.
Zelalem, a United States under-20 international, arrived at Rangers’ Murray Park training complex in Glasgow on Tuesday for negotiations, the Daily Record reported.
The 18-year-old made two appearances for Arsenal’s senior squad in 2014, his first in the FA Cup in January and the second in the Champions League in December.
He starred for the Gunners’ under-21 side on Friday night, scoring to wrap up a 1-0 win.
Born in Germany, to Ethiopian parents, but raised in the U.S., Zelalem played for the Americans in the Under-20 World Cup earlier after receiving clearance from FIFA.
On Monday, Rangers completed similar loans for Tottenham’s Nathan Oduwa and Dominic Ball as they try to return to the top flight in Scotland for the first time since the club were liquidated in 2012.
Before their forced relegation, Rangers featured a number of Americans, including Maurice Edu, Carlos Bocanegra and Alejandro Bedoya.
