Ethiopia Ready for AU Summit
Addis Ababa (Prensa Latina)―Ethiopia is ready to held, on the days 30 and 31 of this month, the XXVI Summit of the African Union (AU Summit), assured today the newspaper of this capital Ethiopian Herald.
More than fifty heads of state and government of member countries of the African Union (AU) have confirmed their attendance to the meeting to be held in the new Conference Center of the AU Commission, referred the website.
The UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon will travel to Addis Ababa to attend the meeting that will focus on the rights of women in the so-called 2016, African Year of Human Rights.
Ban Ki-moon will speak next Saturday in the forum and in the Ethiopian capital will hold bilateral meetings with heads of state and senior officials attending it.
The works of this summit meeting began last Thursday with the regular meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR) and continued yesterday with a meeting of foreign ministers in the city of Mekele.
The most recent ordinary summit of the AU took place in mid-2015 in Johannesburg, and was dedicated to the empowerment of women, the development for the realization of the so-called Agenda 2063 and the problems of migration and xenophobia,among others.
