Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - Eritrean refugees residing in Ethiopia are going to hold a concert on August 29, 2015 at the Addis Ababa Municipality hall.

The aim of the concert is said to commemorate the commencement of the armed struggle of Eritreans for independence on September 1, 1962 and to create public awareness about the risk of illegal migration facing hundreds of thousands of Eritreans who are fleeing their home country fearing conscription at home by the regime in Asmara.

It is to be recalled that Eritreans all over the world have been conducting various panel discussions and demonstrations following a damning report of the UN Human Rights commission on Eritrea’s human rights violation.

Thousands of Eritreans have demonstrated in front of the AU and EU offices and demanded their support to stop killings, slavery and torture in Eritrea which they said are the main sources of illegal migration.

More than 150,000 Eritreans refuges are currently living in Ethiopia. During the concert; over 3,000 Eritreans, among them intellectuals, renowned personalities and others will attend the concert and discuss on issues of cross border and secondary movement migration.
