The Moment Bride Died in Helicopter Crash on her Wedding Day
Newly released video shows the horrifying moment a helicopter crash killed a Brazilian bride on her wedding day last year.
The video, released by a Brazilian news channel, shows Rosemere do Nascimento Silva laughing and smiling as the helicopter takes off. It ends with the heartbreaking disaster that killed her, her brother, the pilot and a pregnant photographer.
Her fiancé was left waiting at the altar.
Police in Sao Paulo have been looking into reasons for the crash and the almost 9-minute video may reveal mistakes made by pilot Peterson Pinheiro moments before the crash, according to Aeronautics Reserve Colonel Luis Lupoli, channel G1 Oficial reported.
In the clip, filmed by the photographer, the bride smiles as she stares out the window and links arms with her brother.
After an initial bout of turbulence, her brother exclaims in distress.
“Mercy, Lord!” he repeats as the pilot tells him to remain calm and the bride smiles nervously.
As the turbulence seems to worsen the bride and her brother close their eyes tightly and clench their jaws.
The camera turns to the pilot’s hand as he seems to try and steady the helicopter before an alarm goes off and the picture shakes uncontrollably. There’s a glimpse of the bride’s dress, the inside of the helicopter and the foggy sky outside as the passengers scream.
“Calm, calm, calm,” the pilot says before the helicopter swivels completely out of control, crashing to the ground.
The camera continues to record after the impact and the last image is of the ground after the crash. Birds can be heard chirping in the distance.
“All brides have a dream and hers was to arrive by helicopter to their wedding without anyone knowing,” Carlos Eduardo Battista, one of the wedding planners, had told Brazilian outlet Globo at the time.
The groom was unaware of his bride’s planned arrival by air and went into complete shock, according to the pastor. Only six of the 300 guests knew about the surprise.
The helicopter was found a mile from the wedding venue in a forest.
