SNNP Aims for 600,000 Job Opportunities

Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ State (SNNPS), one of the states in Ethiopia under the federal arrangement, disclosed it is ready to create job opportunities for 600,000 unemployed people.


According to the state’s chief, Dese Dalke, 3 billion Birr was availed to create job opportunities for the state’s unemployed youth. During the first half of the current fiscal year, the state managed to create 250,000 job opportunities, he added.

In related news, the state issued licenses to 153 investors in the last 8 months of the current fiscal year. The investors are expected to engage in agriculture, industry and service sectors.

The investments have a combined capital of more than 3.6 billion Birr and thus far they have created 50,000 jobs.
