The proceedings of the 28th African Union Summit opened Monday in the Ethiopian capital, Addis-Ababa, under the sign: "Harnessing the Demographic Dividend through Investments in Youth."

The Summit of the Heads of State and Government, in which Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal is representing President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, is to examine several questions, namely the reform of the Pan-African Organization, the election of the new head of the AU Commission as well as issues of peace and security.

However, the priority will be given to the question of the African Union reform.

Speaking during the AU Leaders Retreat on the organization reform, the Premier said "the reform process of the African Union that we decided to entrust to President Kagamé is a necessity. It comes in a particular context, marked by the need to meet Africa integration and development imperatives, and also the ongoing global changes.”
