Mother Arrested after Children miss School for More than 5 Days
A woman is charged with allowing her children to miss more than five days of schools unexcused.
Bayeena Dailey's children, Kareem and Daniya Dailey, both attended Shelby County Schools last year. According to a police report, they had too many unexcused absences.
A warrant was issued for Dailey's arrest in July 2016. She was arrested on September 20 for violating the Compulsory School Attendance Law.
Approximately 29,000 Shelby County students were chronically absent last year.
