New Delhi Holds India-Africa Forum Next Week

The third India-Africa Forum is to be held in New Delhi from October 26 to 29, 2015, after a year from its original plan as a result of the outbreak Ebola virus in West Africa, according to the Indian Embassy to Ethiopia.

In an exclusive interview with Walta Information Center (WIC) Sanjay Verma, Indian Ambassador to Ethiopia said close to 42 heads of state of states and governments and 45 foreign ministers will attend the Forum as well.

The Forum was supposed to take place in September 2014. But because of the outbreak of Ebola virus in West Africa, it was postponed, Verma noted.

The Forum is held every three years. Addis Ababa, Ethiopia hosted the second India-Africa Forum in 2011.

This year’s Forum will cooperatively figure out ways to implement Africa Union Commission (AUC) Agenda 2063, the Ambassador said.

India did not host such largest multilateral event in 34 years, Verma stated.
