Ethiopia Holds Consultation Forum With DAG


Ethiopia has held a Consultation Forum with developmental partners on the Second Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP II) this week at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, The Daily Monitor reported.

Abdulaziz Mohammad, Minister of Finance and Economic Cooperation, at the opening of the Forum on Monday, October 19, 2015, applauded the development partners for their significant contribution to the realization of the First Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP I) and Millennium Development Goals.

He also asked the development partners to continue their support for the actualization of GTP II and Ethiopia’s hard work to attain middle income status by 205.

Dr. Yinager Dessie, Commission Commissioner of National Planning of Ethiopia said information on accomplishments, challenges as well as lessons to be taken from the actualization of GTP I would be exchanged at the Forum.

Government sources indicated the plans of GTP II embraced transparent, accountable and extensive public participation at the federal and regional level and consultation with various sectors of society as well.

Paul Sherlock, Co-Chair for the Development Assistance Group (DAG), said development partners are willing again to extend consultations on foreign exchange reserves, manufacturing and exporting sectors, public debt and inflation, quality of education, health and other basic services.
