The St. Paul's Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC) and Alpha University College graduated MA students over the last weekend in the presence of senior government officials and families of the graduates.

Speaking on the occasion, SPHMMC's Vice Provost Dr. Wuletaw Chane said that the first ever graduation of 12 Integrated Emergency Surgery and Obstetrics Officers with MA degrees vividly demonstrates the strong commitment of the government towards reducing the prevailing high death toll related to various accidents as well as further strengthening the so far registered success story in reduction of maternal mortality rate.

"The students have proved their competency in carrying out a life-saving task in the three- year practical and theoretical courses. Undeniably, they will play a significant role in the nation's efforts to dramatically reduce child and maternal mortality rates," he added.

Guest of Honour and Alpha Education and Training Share Company Board Chairperson Dr. Berhane Asfaw told the first 28 students in Master of Business Administration (MBA) that what matters most in life is not only acquiring skills and the knowledge of a given discipline but also serving the general public honestly and diligently.

"Alpha University College believes in improving and maintaining education quality. It never works for financial gains at the expense of quality education under any circumstances," he said.
