Awaze mereq

Beef cooked in red pepper


1 ½ lb beef on bone

3 cups chopped red onions

1.5 cup berbere paste 

½ tsp garlic powder

½ tsp ginger powder

4 cups water

1 cup niter kibbeh

Salt to taste


In a frying pan on a medium heat, dry fry the red onions until golden brown. 

Wash and cut meat into small pieces and add to pan. Cook until tender.

Add the water, garlic and ginger, stirring well.

In a bowl mix together the kibbeh and red pepper paste.

Stir  butter and paste to the meat, add salt
