The vehicle then rolled down an incline into the garage and crashed through the garage door, pinned her against a wall and killed her.
She was pronounced dead a short time later at NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn.
Mazza, a lifetime New Yorker, was a musician, vocal coach, and elementary school teacher, her daughter Lisa told New York Daily News.
'She taught music and she was loved by all. 'She was so active. I can’t believe it. All of a sudden, I hear this.'
The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad is looking into the accident.

Joel Edelstein told NBC: 'Very freaky, I've never heard of anything like it. But again it's a steep incline, I've seen it, it's very steep.
'I do know that the garage does go on an incline, when I pass it I'm also very careful because sometimes they come pretty fast down because of the incline, they go a little faster.
'If that's true then it's very possible to get caught when you're going back.'
It is understood emergency services had to physically lift the SUV off the victim.
The garage door is now bent in half such was the impact of the collision.
