The Ethiopian Ministry of Trade announced price revision on retail prices of fuel.
The ministry said in a statement that, due to fuel price increase at the global market, a fuel price revision with some increment has been found necessary.
Subsequent to the revision, a liter of benzene is being sold at birr 20.19 (up from 19.69); a liter of diesel at birr 18.03 (up from 17.78); a liter of light black diesel at birr 15.66 (up from 15.41); and a liter of hard black diesel at birr 15.15 (up from 14.90). The increment averages at 1.8 per cent.
In the same statement, the ministry also disclosed that airplane fuel is now sold at birr 20.62, blended fuel (mixture of benzene and ethanol) at birr 19.89, and kerosene at birr 14.90, all prices per liter of fuel.
The new prices are made effective starting 31st January, 2019.
