lemma-gedu-netherlandsLemma Megersa, president of Oromia regional state, and Gedu Andargachew, president of Amhara regional state joined in visiting the Netherlands, intending to discuss with chiefs of some of Dutch companies working in Ethiopia.

Among the companies Lemma and Gedu visited during their trip are Heineken, Groente en Fruithuis and Wageningen University. During their visit, some of the challenges that have to do with international investments have been raised and discussed.

Dutch companies have long been involved in economic and development ties with Ethiopia. Currently, there are over a hundred Dutch companies in Ethiopia, and they have created employment for about 70,000 people.

Among the characteristics that make Ethiopia preferable for Dutch investors are its favorable climatic conditions, its large domestic market and the powerful economic growth and the ambitious development agenda it exhibits.

In a proactive trade and development agenda that Sigrid Kaag, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of the Netherlands, has, the European nation “aims to strengthen cooperation with Ethiopia for a sustainable and inclusive growth” of the East African nation.
