Demeke Atnafu, Ethiopia’s Consulate-General to India, said trade and investment between Ethiopia and India had significantly been growing over the years. He told Indian TravelBinz Magazine that “Business ties between the two countries have grown significantly, especially in the areas of trade, investment, agriculture and infrastructure projects.”
About 7.4 percent of Ethiopia’s total import comes from India while the country’s export to India stands at USD 65 million.
The Consulate-General also explained the role of Ethiopian Airlines in advancing trade and economic ties between Ethiopia and India. According to Demeke, with its geocentric advantage Ethiopian currently offers convenient network of connectivity between Africa and India with double daily flights from Addis to Mumbai and Delhi.
