A road designing and construction contracts worth Birr 1.2 billion are concluded between Addis Ababa City Roads Authority and six constructors and five consultancy companies. All the projects are expected to be completed within two years period.
The agreements are directed at constructing 25.32 km new asphalt concrete roads, rendering supervision and consultancy services for 74 km road construction, and designing 156 km new road construction in different parts of the city.
According to Moges Tibebu (Engineer), the Authority’s Director General, the projects are part of the city’s three years Road Master Plan which was adopted in 2017 and they will ease traffic movements and increase modern road coverage in the city. He said the cost would be covered by the city administration adding that by identifying the roads in different parts of the city, the authority was developing different modern road designs.
