Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has granted amnesty to Ethiopians who were said to be imprisoned for different crimes there.

But the number of Ethiopians has not mentioned in the report.


The state-owned Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) by quoting Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that “the Kuwait’s move come after Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn’s diplomatic effort”.

Ethiopian Minister of Foreign Affairs Workineh Gebeyehu (PhD) has welcomed the move and dedicated his gratitude to the Amir on his in progress official visit to Kuwait.

According to ENA, Workineh discussed with the Emir about the recent Gulf diplomatic crisis and Ethiopia’s firm stance to resolve the problem through peaceful ways and negotiations.

Later on Monday, Dr. Workineh handed a letter from Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The letter has to do with bilateral ties as well as the latest regional and global developments.

In his message, Prime Minister Hailemariam also commended his Highness the Amir's foresight in his efforts to diffuse the current Gulf row.
