We’re planning Lent with a difference this year – and we want you to help give the boot to water poverty.
But why should you sign up to walk 10,000 steps a day for 40 days?
1. Because 1 in 3 people don’t have access to safe drinking water
By walking in solidarity with people who have to walk to water, and getting sponsored for your challenge, you can make a real difference.
2. You can make difference to people like Ibrahim
It used to take 50-year-old Ibrahim 24 hours to get a drink of water.
“We would go out to get water at around 2am,” says 50-year-old Ibrahim, “and we would get back maybe 24 hours later.”
He lives in the Danakil Depression in northern Ethiopia and had no choice but to make the long and difficult journey for water every day.
The money you raise by Walking for Water will provide practical help to people like Ibrahim, who now has a solar-powered water pump installed near his home. He remembers the day it was installed very well. “It was a day filled with happiness.”
3. You can change your life too!
Whether your New Year’s resolution is to get fit, use your car less, spend more time in prayer, or even stay off your phone, joining our daily walking challenge this Lent will help you keep it
And best of all, the change you’ll be making in your life will transform the lives of people living in poverty overseas.
