Addis Ababa December 25/2020 (ENA) National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) has announced the draft timetable for Ethiopia’s forthcoming 6th General Election today.
According to the draft schedule tabled by NEBE, the forthcoming general election will be conducted on June 5, 2021.
The dates given for political parties to submit election symbols to the electoral board are January 30 – February 13, it was learned.
Registration of candidates will take place from February 15-28, electoral campaigning from February 15 – May 31, and voter registration from March 1- 30.
The draft time table set the voting dates for Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa city administrations June 12.
The days for announcement of the election at polling station levels are proposed to be from June 5-6, 2021.
NEBE time line indicates that final election results will be announced from June 6 – 28, 2021.
It is to be recalled that the Government of Ethiopia postponed the 6th General Election scheduled for last August, 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic.
