Heineken Breweries S.C. Ethiopia decided to construct water treatment at its Kilinto plant. The project is estimated to cost 176 million Birr.
According to the general manager of the production line at Kilinto, Anteneh Mitiku, Heineken saves 3.5 million Birr every year from biogas that uses the company’s wastes.
Commenting on the development, Environmental Awareness and Pollution Team Coordinator at Addis Ababa City Administration Environmental Protection Authority, Lemesa Gudeta, noted that Heineken discharged its waste properly and according to the regulations stipulated by the Authority.
Other than building the water treatment plant, the company has also bought different equipment’s worth 800,000 Birr from Edirs found in the locality the factory is found.
