The Weeknd Declines to Perform in Ethiopia The Weeknd

The Ethiopian-Canadian R&B superstar, songwriter and record producer “The Weeknd” Abel Tesfaye, has declined to perform in a concert planned in Ethiopia around September 2017, according to media reports.

His manager was approached by an agent in the U.S. who was planning the Addis Ababa concert but was told "The Weeknd” is not available this year."

The source suggested that Live Nation, the producer of Abel's STARBOY Tour, has locked him into an exclusive contract.

Abel Tesfaye’s tortured, genre-bending R&B has brought him millions of fans, a triple platinum album and collaborations with Daft Punk and Beyoncé.

Ethiopian-Canadian who for some time now – ever since his stealth emergence as a recording artist in Toronto in 2010 – has been making varied, often exceptional, ever more popular music.
