The newly appointed CEO of Ethiopian Shipping Lines and Logistics Service Enterprise (ESLLSE), Yacob Yalla, was shifted by Hailemariam Dessalegn, Prime Minster of Ethiopia, to be head Ethiopian Horticulture Development Corporation.
Last year Yacob was the Minister of Trade but then he was appointed as the CEO of ESLLSE following the departure of Ahmed Tusa, who moved to Oromia State Revenue and Customs Authority.
Asked about his appointment, Yacob said “I have no information on either of these appointments”.
It was 50 years ago an enterprise dubbed Ethiopian Shipping Lines (ESL) started work as Ethiopian Imperial Shipping Company with a fleet of 3 vessels. Half a decade ago, the government amalgamated operations of shipping, maritime and transit, dry port and Commerce Transport S.C. to establish ESLLSE.
In the last fiscal year, the enterprise disclosed it made 16.5 billion Birr and a net profit of 1.29 billion Birr.
